Synopsis

In 1979 Brooklyn, Jack Anderson is a naive, clean-cut law student struggling to pay his tuition after his father's incarceration for embezzlement. Desperate for money, Jack turns to his classmate and horse-betting friend Gino, who introduces him to the racetrack. A lucky bet pays off his tuition — but Gino's next scheme pulls Jack deeper into debt, this time with Dennis Slattery, a shady Irish car parts dealer from Bay Ridge.

Dennis offers Jack a loan to keep gambling, but the deal comes with a steep price: Jack must marry Dennis's illegal immigrant girlfriend, Anna, to be forgiven the debt. The arrangement is strictly platonic — but Dennis's controlling nature and Anna's own struggles add dangerous tension to an already precarious situation.

As Jack navigates the underworld of gambling, mob connections, and personal risk, the film blends action, crime, and romance with a gritty 1970s New York flair — colorful characters, fast-paced plotlines, and a mix of humor and danger.
